STANISLAUS BICYCLE FRIENDLY COALITION
What:
The Stanislaus Bicycle Friendly Coalition is a grassroots effort consisting of concerned cyclists interested in bettering the conditions in which we ride our bikes in Stanislaus County.Why:
Our fundamental mission is to promote bicycling as a fun, healthy, legal, legitimate and protected mode of transportation in Stanislaus County. Our goals include:
- creating a region where bicycling is safe and easy for all people, young and old;
- generating public awareness of the benefits of bicycling, such as, reduced air pollution, noise, traffic congestion, costs, crime and urban blight, conservation of energy resources, and numerous health benefits;
- promoting bicycling for everyday transportation and recreation;
- promoting the transition of recreational bicyclists to transportational bicyclists;
- facilitating, coordinating, and lobbying for funding and construction of bicycle projects by government agencies;
How:
The SBFC will serve Stanislaus County bicyclists by providing a framework for carrying concerns to policy makers who can affect changes. The SBFC will work at both the County and local levels through an elected board that will actively encourage grassroots involvement in neighborhood and regional projects.When:
The SBFC seeks an active membership that reflects Stanislaus Countys demographic and geographic diversity. Meeting will take place the first Tuesday of each month in various locations. Prospective members, curious cyclists, and other interested parties are welcome to attend and see what the SBFC is all about.
